Amir Alav is a record producer, engineer and guitarist based in Vancouver, BC. Born in Tehran, he started playing in 2006 and came up through Iran’s underground indie and post-punk scene. He spent years playing in bands and running workshops on guitar recording, teaching players how to shape their tone and capture it on record.

Since 2012 he has worked with artists as a producer, songwriter and touring guitarist, playing festivals and clubs across Europe, the United States and Canada. That time on stage and in the studio shapes how he produces: he knows how a song has to hold up live, and he builds records to carry that same weight.

 He works out of his own hybrid studio in Vancouver, where analog gear and a digital setup sit side by side. Most of his work is recording and production, from full records to co-production and guitar sessions for other artists. He focuses on capturing a strong performance and making sure the finished record still sounds like the artist.
